The Rules and Regulations that govern all bouts shall be obligatory and binding in all sanctioned fights. Pitfight rulings will be the same apart from fighters will fight in either a 12x12 pit or 15x15 pit and a slight change in the length of rounds.

 

 1. Each ring fight will be either  3x2 rounds for novices, 4 x2 for intermediate fighters  and 5x2 minute rounds for inhouse and IBKB tilte fights. At the end of each round there will be 1 minute interval . Every competing fighter will have the option as to whether to wear handwraps or not, unless the venue or authorities stipulate otherwise. If handwraps are worn then only standard handwraps and tape will be used only between fingers and on the wrist area.

IN PITFIGHTS ROUNDS WILL BE OF 3x3 MINUTE ROUNDS FOR NOVICES, 4X3 FOR MORE EXPERIENCED FIGHTERS AND 5X3 FOR TITLE FIGHTS.

 

 2. Fighters will start in the center of the ring at the starting position known as the scratch. The scratch being a 3 foot square, each fighter must have the toes of the lead foot on the line of the scratch. If this isnt available then fighters will approach the centre of the ring as instructed by the referee.

 

 3. A fighter will be considered down when any part of his body besides his feet touch the ground.

 

 4. Win is by a) knock out, b) concession, c) fighter is deemed unable to continue by doctor, d) Fighter is deemed unable to continue by referee, e) fighter is deemed unable to continue by his corner,) For non-Title fights, if the bout ends with no clear winner, then the winner of the majority of rounds wins as deemed by the referee.

 

 

 Legal Techniques

 

 1. All strikes using the knuckle part a closed fist, but no backfists or hammerfists.

 

 

 

Illegal Techniques

 

 1. All strikes using a) feet, b) knees, c) Elbows and d) head are not permitted.

 

 2. Attacking to or grabbing below the waist is not permitted.

 

 3. Biting, gouging,, or attacking fingers will not be permitted.

 

 4. Grabbing of hair, ears, nose or lips will not be permitted.

 

 5. Attacking a downed man will not be permitted.

 

 6. Intentionally going down to avoid a strike will not be permitted.

 

 7. Using the ropes or any other part of the ring as a weapon will not be permitted.

 

 8. Any technique deemed dangerous or unsportsmanlike will not be permitted.

 

 9. The referee has the final decision in all cases

 

 

10. When a fighter is knocked down, the referee shall audibly announce the 20 count as he indicates with his right arm downward showing the end of each sound of the count, if the fighter taking the count is still down when the ref calls the count of TWENTY ( 20 ) the referee will wave both arms indicating the fighter has been knocked out.

 

 

11. No fighter can be saved by the bell in any round.

 

12. A Ten point must system will be used scoring a championship fight, and judges will be advised to not make rounds even, if a round is close then the fighter leading off will be judged to win that particular round. Scorecards will be collected after each round by the IBB Representative, if the contest is stopped  the judges will still score the round in which the contest was stopped.

13. If a boxer sustains an injury from a fair blow and the injury is severe enough to terminate the contest, the injured boxer shall lose by technical knockout (TKO).

14.   Injuries sustained by fouls:

(a)   Intentional Fouls

1.     If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the contest immediately, the boxer causing the injury shall lose by disqualification (DQ).

2.     If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the contest is allowed to continue, the referee shall notify the authorities and deduct two (2) points from the boxer who caused the foul. Point deductions for intentional fouls will be mandatory.

3.     If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the injury results in the contest being stopped in a later round, the injured boxer will win by TECHNICAL DECISION if he is ahead on the scorecards; and the contest will result in a TECHNICAL DRAW if the injured boxer is behind or even on the scorecards.

4.     If a boxer injures himself while attempting to intentionally foul his opponent, the referee will not take any action in his favor, and this injury shall be the same as one produced by a fair blow.

5.     If the referee feels that a boxer has conducted himself in an unsportsman-like manner, he may stop the contest and disqualify the boxer.

(b)   Accidental Fouls

1.     If an accidental foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the contest immediately, the contest will result in a NO DECISION if stopped before four (4) completed rounds. Four (4) rounds are complete when the bell rings signifying the end of the fourth round.

2.     If an accidental foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the contest immediately after four (4) rounds have occured, the contest will result in a TECHNICAL DECISION awarded to the boxer who is ahead on the scorecards at the time the contest is stopped.

3.     Partial or incomplete rounds will be scored. If no action has occured, the round should be scored as an even round. This is at the discretion of the judges.

 A boxer who is hit with an accidental low blow must continue after a reasonable amount of time, but no more than five (5) minutes, or he/she will lose the contest.

 

 

 

 

Regulations

 

1. The size of the ring shall be no less than 16ft square and no more than 24ft and in Pitfights the area will be from 12x12 ft to 15x15 ft.

 

 2. At every bout a ring side Physician OR Paramedics appointed by or approved by the IBKB must be present.

 

 3. Adequate Public liability insurance must be in force at each event and a certificate must be available for presentation if needed.

 

4. I the event of a Title fight being declared a draw by the three judges then the referee will decide, if he still concludes a draw then 1 extra round will be fought and the referee will decide the winner.

 

5. The weigh-in for each fighter will take place 24hrs before the fight or on fight day depending on fighters availability.

 

 6 .All security personel at each event must hold the current licences necessary and there must be sufficient numbers of security dependant on location that satisfies health and safety regulations.

 

7.Adequate numbers of registered first-aid holders must be present to safeguard members of the public.

 

 8. Local hospitals near the event must be notified prior to an event and a Ambulance / Paramedic ambulance has to be on stand-by should the need arise.

 

 9.The referee shall exercise immediate authority, direction, and control over the fight to which he has been designated, and it shall be his responsibility toenforce the rules and regulations governing bouts sanctioned by the Institute of Bare Knuckle Boxing.The referee shall be the only authorized person to determine, or to decide, if a fair or unfair blow has produced the injuries or wounds suffered by the boxers during the fight, and if it was accidental or intentional.

 The referee shall have the authority to stop the fight and make a decicion,pursuant to the regulations, during any stage of the fight, if he considers that the bout has become "one-sided", or if any of the contenders is in such condition that if the fight continues he is liable to suffer serious damage.

 

12. The ringside physician may only step up to the ring, during the progress of the fight, when required to do so by the referee, but may step up to the ring to examine a boxer, following his own judgment, during the intermissions and between rounds.

 

 The physician shall avoid any gestures or signal indicating his opinion to othe persons, other than the referee, because he could be erroneously interpreted by the public or by the interested persons.

 

 The IBKB will determine the number of doctors and the medical equipment and instruments that the promoting company is required to have atringside, through regular bulletins.

 

13. The administration or the use of drugs or stimulants by any of the contenders,before or during the fight, is definitely forbidden. Any of the boxers violating this rule shall be subject to disqualification. The boxers, during the fight, are only entitled to ingest PURE WATER. Any other substance is prohibited.The discretionary use of Vaseline around the eyes shall be allowed; however the use of grease, Vaseline, or any other substance in arms, legs or body of the contenders is forbidden.

 

 14.The discretional use of homeostatic, such as adrenaline solution at 1 x 1000, shall be allowed in order to control bleeding of minor cuts or lacerations suffered by the boxers during the bout. The use of homeostatic solutions based on iron, such as Monsel solution, or the use of any other caustic solution is prohibited. The usage for these prohibited substances constitutes sufficient cause for disqualification. The ringside physician is authorized to examine, at any time,the substances being used as homeostatic during the fight

 

 15..The genital protector and mouth protectors shall be of obligatory usage to all boxers participating in bouts santioned. The genital protector shall exceed neither the navel nor the ileum. The trunks shall go one (1) inch over the genital protector. Boxers shall wear the trunks and the genital protector to the weighing ceremony so that the supervisor once he sees them and can approve or disapprove them. Before beginning the fight, the referee will verify that both contenders use their genital protectors below the navel. The boxer that doesn't fulfill this rule will be admonished by the referee and forced to use the protector according to the regulation; shall the violation of this norm persist in subsequent round ,it will be sanctioned with the deduction of a (1) point

 

16 .When, for any reason, a fighter loses the mouth protector during the contest, the referee shall stop the fight, pick up the protector, and shall deliver or throw the protector to the seconds of the boxer in order for them to clean it and rapidly and return it as soon as possible.

 The referee, making good use of his judgment, shall at the appropriate moment, place again the protector to the boxer who has lost it

 

 

17..Each fighter shall be allowed no more than 2 (TWO) seconds, one of which shall be the principle second who shall be responsible for the behaviour in the corner during a bout.
